The Inspection Problem in Dried Figs
Dried fig quality is judged on appearance — colour, size, shape, splits, sugar crystallisation — and on safety screening for contamination. Manual UV inspection is done in dark rooms by trained staff and is slow, tiring and hard to keep consistent. It is exactly the kind of repetitive visual judgement a vision system can apply piece by piece.
UV Screening Support
Configured with appropriate UV illumination and imaging, the system identifies fluorescence indicators associated with contamination and automatically separates suspicious figs from the stream. This is automated screening and sorting support.
It does not measure aflatoxin concentration, and it is not a substitute for certified laboratory analysis. Laboratory testing remains the reference; the system reduces the manual screening load ahead of it.
Visual Quality Sorting
Under normal illumination the same platform classifies figs by colour, size, shape and surface defects against the plant's grades, and separates them accordingly. Classes and criteria are defined with the processor and documented for the application.

No. Under UV illumination it identifies fluorescence indicators associated with contamination and separates suspicious product. It supports screening; it does not measure concentration and does not replace certified laboratory analysis.
02What detection rate does UV screening achieve?
No generic figure is published. Screening performance is validated on the customer's product, including known-suspicious samples, during the application project.
03Is it demonstrated on dried figs?
