Premade Pouch & Doypack Packaging Machines

A premade pouch machine takes pouches that were made elsewhere — stand-up doypacks, zipper pouches, flat and flat-bottom pouches — opens them, fills them and seals them. DOKTEK FoodTech supplies pouch packaging machines configured with the weigher or filler the product needs.

Configuration is selected according to product, packaging format and required capacity. Machine speed, dimensions and price are stated in the quotation once the product and the pack have been reviewed.

How a Premade Pouch Machine Works

  1. 01

    Pouch magazine

  2. 02

    Pick + grip

  3. 03

    Date coding

  4. 04

    Open (zipper)

  5. 05

    Fill

  6. 06

    Seal + discharge

Grippers carry each pouch through the stations; the pouch is opened with suction and air, filled from the doser, settled, optionally gas flushed, heat sealed, cooled and discharged.

Machine Configuration

  1. 01

    Pouch magazine and pick-up

Pouches are fed from a magazine and picked by suction into pairs of grippers.

  2. 02

    Opening station

Suction cups and an air jet open the pouch mouth; zipper pouches have the zipper opened first.

  3. 03

    Filling station

Multihead weigher for pieces, auger for powders, cup filler for granules, pump or piston filler for liquids and sauces.

  4. 04

    Settling and gas flushing

Vibration settles product below the seal area; nitrogen flushing is available for sensitive products.

  5. 05

    Sealing and cooling

Heat sealing jaws seal the pouch, a cooling bar sets the seal before discharge.

  6. 06

    Controls

PLC and HMI with pouch-size recipes; no-pouch/no-fill and no-open/no-fill logic.

Suitable Products

Typical pouch products

  • Nuts, dried fruit and trail mixes
  • Snacks and confectionery
  • Coffee, tea and spices
  • Powders and granules
  • Sauces and liquid foods (with a liquid filler)
  • Premium retail packs with a zipper or window

Usually better on another machine

  • Low-cost pillow bags at high volume — vertical form fill seal
  • Products in rigid trays — tray sealing

Premade Pouch or Form-Fill-Seal?

A premade pouch costs more per pack than a bag formed from roll film, but it brings the shelf presence, reclosable zipper, window and stand-up base that retail buyers ask for — and the pouch converter, not the machine, is responsible for the pouch's shape and print. A form-fill-seal bagger is usually the lower-cost route for high-volume, simple bags.

Pouch Types and Materials

Stand-up pouches (doypacks) with a bottom gusset, flat pouches, flat-bottom (box) pouches and zipper pouches are all run on premade pouch machines, each with its gripper and opening settings. Spouted pouches need dedicated equipment and are reviewed separately.

Laminated, metallised, paper-based and recyclable mono-material pouches are used; the sealing temperature and time are set to the pouch structure supplied by the converter.

Capacity, Changeover and Cleaning

Pouches per minute depend on the pouch size, the fill volume, the filler and the product's settling behaviour. A pouch-size change is a gripper width adjustment and a recipe change.

Food-contact parts are stainless steel or food-grade plastics; product-contact parts of the filler are designed for removal and cleaning. Stations are guarded and interlocked; CE documentation can be prepared according to the machine scope.

Integration

The doser sits above the filling station; a feed conveyor brings product from the processing line or a buffer. Downstream, filled pouches go to checkweighing, metal detection and case packing — which DOKTEK can specify with the pouch machine.

Optional Equipment

Options
  • Nitrogen flushing
  • Zipper opening
  • Thermal-transfer date coder
  • Degassing valve applicator
  • Dust extraction
  • Checkweigher and metal detector

Options are confirmed per project for the product and the pouch.

Specification basis

DOKTEK FoodTech supplies premade pouch and doypack packaging machines as configured systems: the machine, the dosing or weighing equipment, the format parts and the controls are selected for the customer's product, pack and capacity rather than sold as one fixed model.

For that reason this page publishes no speed, pack-size range, film width, machine dimension, reference installation or price. Each is stated in the quotation for the agreed configuration and can be confirmed with the customer's own product and packaging material before shipment.

What Is Confirmed Before Quotation

Pouches per minute are confirmed for the agreed pouch sizes, product and filler. No figure is quoted before those are known.

  • Pouch type, sizes and supplier
  • Product and filling method
  • Target weight and tolerance
  • Gas flushing needed or not
  • Required pouches per minute
  • Feeding and downstream handling

Send Your Product and Pack

A packaging quotation starts with the product and the pack you want to sell. The more of the following you can send, the more specific the reply.

  1. 01Product and how it behaves (free-flowing, sticky, fragile, frozen, powder)
  2. 02Target pack weight or count per pack
  3. 03Pack format — photo or sample of the bag, pouch, tray or case
  4. 04Packaging material, if already chosen
  5. 05Required packs per minute or per shift
  6. 06What comes before and after the packaging machine

Frequently asked questions

Questions before a machine evaluation.

01

What is a doypack packaging machine?

A machine that opens, fills and seals doypacks — stand-up pouches with a bottom gusset — which arrive ready-made from a pouch converter. It is a type of premade pouch packaging machine.

02

Can one machine handle different pouch sizes?

Yes, within the machine's size range: a pouch-size change is a gripper width adjustment and a recipe change. The range is stated in the quotation for the chosen configuration.

03

Can zipper pouches be filled automatically?

Yes. The machine opens the zipper and the pouch mouth before filling and seals above the zipper afterwards.

04

Which filler is used on a pouch machine?

The same choice as on other packers: a multihead weigher for pieces, an auger for powders, a cup filler for free-flowing granules, and a pump or piston filler for liquids and sauces.

05

Is a premade pouch machine more expensive to run than a VFFS machine?

The pouch itself usually costs more than film from a roll. Buyers choose premade pouches for the stand-up shelf presence, zipper, window and print quality they bring.
