Okra's tapered pod and irregular stem make it a poor fit for a fixed-blade cutter. DOKTEK has adapted the same vision-guided stem-cutting platform proven on its production eggplant machine to okra, and is running it on DOKTEK's own pilot line.
This machine is built and running on DOKTEK's own pilot line, shown in the video and photo on this page. It is under validation on real product and is not yet released as a standard catalogue machine.

Why Okra Needs Its Own Engineering
Okra pods taper from a wide shoulder to a narrow tip, ridge along their length, and vary in curvature and size within the same harvest. A cutting station built around one nominal pod either leaves stem material on the shoulder or cuts into the pod itself on the next one. The same problem the eggplant machine solves — locating the feature to cut on a product that never repeats exactly — applies directly to okra.
DOKTEK's approach carries over unchanged: machine vision locates the stem on each pod before the cut is made, rather than cutting at a fixed position and hoping the product matches it.
What Is Running Today
The okra stem-cutting station is built and running on DOKTEK's pilot line, using the same vision-detection and precision-motion approach demonstrated on the eggplant machine. It is under validation on real product; DOKTEK does not yet publish a capacity, accuracy or throughput figure for it.

Not yet as a standard catalogue machine. It is built and running on DOKTEK's pilot line and under validation. DOKTEK reviews each enquiry against the customer's product and proposes what can be validated and configured for that line.
02Is this the same machine as the eggplant stem cutting machine?
It runs on the same vision and motion platform, adapted for okra's shape and stem geometry. Whether a line needs a dedicated okra station or a shared configuration is a project decision.
03What accuracy or capacity does it achieve?
No figure is published for a line still in pilot validation. Performance is validated on the customer's own product before any figure is quoted.
